Setting the standard in Six Sigma training and support

Case Histories

Our clients encompass a wide range of businesses including manufacturing as well as service companies.

Goldmark's list of pleased customers includes
Washington Mutual Bank, Callaway Golf, and Actaris Gas Meter.

Examples of results include:

Washington Mutual Bank

Opportunity

WAMU had grown dramatically over a period of 10 years primarily through acquisitions. Now WAMU's strategy had changed to growing organically. This meant that they had to elevate the quality of their products and services in order to grow their customer base, retain new customers and improve bottom line growth.

Results:

Operational Excellence, a structured process improvement methodology developed by WAMU and designed to fit their unique culture, was developed as the strategy to achieve this goal. Goldmark was selected to provide support with the development and implementation of the deployment plan and the training material. From inception in April 2003, over 2200 employees have been trained in Operational Excellence, including Senior Executives, Managers, and Practitioners.

"Goldmark consistently displays high energy, flexibility, and proven problem solving approaches which have exceeded our expectations

Goldmark is highly flexible. They do not deliver a canned approach but tailored a solution to meet the cultural needs of the business.

Skilled professionals, high flexibility, superior quality solutions - all hallmarks of the terrific team at Goldmark."

J. Rostas, COO, Washington Mutual Bank

Process improvement projects reported in 2003 delivered over $65 million of annualized savings in the first six months of the program rollout. Savings of $30 million were reported for first quarter of 2004 and along with a 39% increase in customer satisfaction.     ^ Back to Top

Callaway Golf

Opportunity:

The Director of Callaway R&D wanted to improve the cycle time of new product introduction, reduce the iterations to deliver a new design to the manufacturing operations and improve the market's response to new product.

"Goldmark delivered what they promised. I'm a fan of Mark Goldstein."

R. Stadterman, Vice President R&D, Callaway Golf Co.

Results:

Goldmark delivered customized Champion training to the leadership of the R&D organization and customized Green Belt training to the entire R&D staff (120 members), including the Director of R&D. Goldmark also provided input on customized training for technicians, and was instrumental in the development of a certification procedure for Green Belts.     ^ Back to Top

Actaris

Opportunity:

Actaris is the only international group entirely dedicated to metering products and systems for the distribution and allocation of electricity, gas, water and heat. They are a world leader in their market, for all meter types and classes. Actaris offers a complete range of products covering all market segments: residential, commercial and industrial, transport and distribution. Actaris relies on a network of 6,500 employees spread over thirty countries, with a significant presence in Europe, Asia and South America.

The Actaris facility in Owenton, Kentucky manufactures residential gas meters for the US and Canadian markets. Manufacture of a new lower cost modular designed gas meter had been implemented with significant internal quality issues.

"Goldmark rolled up their sleeves, immediately became part of our project and demonstrated their commitment to our team."

Chris Wykle, Engineering Manager, Actaris Gas Meter Co.

Results:

Goldmark was asked to team with the Actaris Managers of Quality and Design to investigate the many issues and develop remedies to improve outgoing quality and reduce internal costs. Goldmark's approach was a combination of hands on investigation in the factory as well as training key Actaris staff members in Six Sigma methodology. Goldmark developed a unique approach to the application of Measurement System Analysis that was more suited to the complexity of their outgoing performance measurement process. Additional tools that Goldmark applied toward the success of the project included Process Mapping, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, Design of Experiments, and application of MiniTab software.

The results included revised manufacturing processes, redesigns based on analysis of critical variables, significant quality cost reductions, and restored confidence in their customer base.     ^ Back to Top
